Boyfriends and baby calves

I feel like a personal update is in order, particularly in the area of my no longer existing love life. Yes, that's right, Adam and I are no longer together. Thank you to all the ladies who sent me the nice comments and emails about him. Since I drug his presence onto my blog, I feel honor-bound to give him a proper exit.
That, and I would hate for there to be confusion when I introduce a new guy at some point in the future, should I decide to include my significant other on my blog again.
That being said, the last month has been an interesting adjustment back to single life. I've enjoyed attending a surprise birthday/going away party for a friend of mine, and catching up with several girls I attended college with, and their significant others. I'm telling you, I have some smart, ambitious, beautiful friends, and it is so fun to visit with them and hear what they're up to these days : )
Also had a chance to spend a weekend with my brother, his girlfriend, and a number of our mutual friends, and that was also nice. On another weekend I met a high school friend of mine for a Josh Gracin concert, and did some more catching up with her and other friends from Casper, in addition to some dancing.
I was feeling a little friend-deprived, to be honest, and it has been so much fun seeing and hearing what so many of mine are up to.
Now we are into calving, with baby number three having just arrived this morning, and number four on its way right this moment. With their arrivals comes a screeching halt to the vast majority of any socializing on my part for the next several weeks, which is fine by me. Calving season, and spring in general, is a favorite time of year for me.
But, I won't stay in isolation forever. I have an Ag Books for Kids classroom presentation lined up for mid-April. As a member of our state Farm Bureau Young Farmer and Rancher (YF&R) Committee, part of my responsibilities are to read an ag-based book to elementary students, and help them complete an associated activity. One added perk is the activity meets state and national teaching standards, so it helps the teacher too. I'm excited for my maiden solo presentation!
I am also planning to attend a bull sale or two, will be off to a YF&R Committee meeting in April, and am very flexible when it comes to being asked to dinner (I jest...sort of). My parents are actually beyond flexible when it comes to me being asked to dinner, and I have to watch them closely for fear of the caliber of eligible bachelors they will find on my behalf, lol. They're scared stiff me being single will prolong their advancement into the era of grandparenthood. Thankfully I can now pass the heat of that topic off on my brother and his girlfriend, and happily so : )
In case you missed it last week, I am also hosting a giveaway for an 11x14 print of your choice. Swing over to this post to read about how you can enter!

10 Random Questions

Saw this on another blog today and thought it would be a quick way to tell you a little more about myself, if you don't know me. Have a great weekend!

1. What is your biggest pet peeve?
Oh I have lots...people procrastinating until the very last minute and it negatively impacting me is a big one, as are lazy people. Letting the windshield wipers go when it isn't raining and they make that squeaking noise, and incessantly barking dogs are another couple examples.

2. What is your favorite dessert?
My grandma's cherry or apple pie, or her cherry dessert. I also love just about anything chocolate...just having dessert will probably make me happy.

3. What is the first thing you notice about people?
Looks, and how they present themselves

4. Are you usually early, late or right on time?
I like to be right on time...but that leads to being a few minutes early a lot, or a few minutes late every once in a while

5. Have you ever fired a gun?
Yes, I own two rifles, and would like to add a handgun to the list.

6. Are you right or left handed?
Right all the way, I can barely do anything with my left...I'm not ambidextrous

7. Which do you prefer, coke or pepsi?
I prefer coke with my whiskey, otherwise pepsi

8. Do you dance crazy when no one is looking?
No, not unless you count the moves in my workout DVD I do during the winter months

9. What's your favorite movie snack?
popcorn or Junior mints

10. Do you scream on roller coasters?
Nope

The Younger Brothers band

Yesterday I interviewed Chancey Williams and Travis DeWitt of the Younger Brothers Band. It was fun and since I am a true-blue Younger Brothers fan I was thrilled to visit with them.
I know, I know, I've seen them play more times then I can count and most of you probably have too. The shiny edge should be worn off them by now. But, the Casper band scene leaves a lot to be desired and with each passing week I have missed them more.
So last night I guilt-tripped the boss into coming to the Beacon with me on a Tuesday to listen for a while. All I have to say is that I can't wait until this weekend when there's someone to dance with!
It also reminded me of my college years...that makes it sound like they were a long time ago, which they weren't. Anyway, as they started their first number I was having serious flashbacks to the first street Cowboy Bar in Laramie. Much smaller, smokier and almost always packed. It was always fun when they played. It seems like everything has changed since then, which is a good thing for the most part.
But some things are the same, some of the good things. Much like Laramie I am sure I will run into random people I know this weekend at the Beacon (that's just part of the joy of living in Wyoming), at which point we will attempt to yell over the music for a while before giving up and enjoying our drinks. I'm pretty sure of this because I already have people facebooking, texting and calling me to ask if the Younger Brothers are in Casper this week, or to say they'll be here and will see me out.
There will be whiskey and dancing and even a Darryl Worley concert thrown in for the heck of it. Who knew Casper could provide so much entertainment? I know I was starting to doubt the town's ability to show someone a good time. I'm sure I will be giving an update after I recover. You can also catch the article in the March 5th Roundup**
**Disclaimer- I am in no way guaranteeing the story will be this particular edition. It's more of a rough estimate than set in stone.
